How to get rid of numbness, during meditation? (Djoko, Sunter)
Answer:
From my experience in examining meditators’ numbness, you need to pay attention on following things: 1. Everybody sitting in meditation position will surely feel numb for sitting long cross-legged, 1 leg on top of the other. Some feel numb only after 10 minutes of meditation, some after few hours. This can be overcome by diligently training the sitting meditation to strengthen the harmonious mind. Often even this numbness can be used as a tool to make bad reaction of our memory emerged and to let it go. 2. If numbness appears during meditation even though you are not sitting with 1 leg on top of the other, it can be unbalance of the flow of energy (chi) on that part of your body. In this case, when doing meditation you have to gently feel your front part of the body from top to bottom, then feel your back part of the body from bottom to top. This will make the energy flow and your numbness will disappear. |
